My Values

In order to get to know me further, you must first understand my most important, deeply held beliefs and values. Here are some of the main motivators in my life as well as the core convictions that I hold to.

Main Motivators & Core Convictions

1. Love

As Christ stated in Matthew 22:37-40, "‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” Love is our greatest commandment, and I want this to be the thing that stands out most about me. I want to be someone who truly loves God and loves others well.

2. Transparency & Honesty

I strongly believe that as the body of Christ, we are called to share our lives with those around us in deep and meaningful ways. To me, this means that I need to always be honest and transparent with the people in my life that truly care about me and want to help me walk with Christ. It is through true vulnerability that we open up to others and truly allow God to use those around us to help shape and develop our character. I am someone that wants to be able to be vulnerable with my friends just as much as I want to help them become more vulnerable and open with me.

3. Generosity/Service

Part of loving others includes being generous with both our money and our time. Christ is our ultimate example of what this service and generosity should look like. In my own life, I am constantly striving to not be "too busy" to help others or to love on others. I want my life to be more about the people that I helped than the physical things that I did. To me, people are the most important part of any ministry.

4. Loyalty

I also hold loyalty to be a very strong value of mine. Without true loyalty in our friendships and family relationships, we cannot have true vulnerability, which I believe is crucial to strong relationships. Having people who we can count on is so important, especially in tough times. I think these are the types of relationships that God calls us to have with fellow believers, as well as with nonbelievers.

5. Hard work

I truly believe in the value of hard work and doing everything to the best of my ability. As 1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." This is something that I try to live out in my everyday life. Whether I'm at my job, at school, or in service to someone else, I try to do everything to the best of my ability and truly glorify God through it all. When we focus more on what we are working on, we have less time to compare ourselves to those around us or to judge others. We also have more time to focus on improving and developing our own character with the help of Christ as our ultimate example.
