My Calling

Ever since I gave my life to the Lord my freshmen year of high school, I knew that I wanted to be involved in full-time ministry. Since then, I have come to realize that ministry is a lifestyle, not necessarily a specific job or position. At this point and in this season of my life, I am open to wherever God wants to use me. While a lot of people see this as a lack of direction, I see it as an opportunity to more fully explore what God wants for me in the next few years. I am excited for graduation and I am excited to see where God ends up placing me and how he uses me in that job.

One thing that I do know for sure is that I truly have a heart for people. Ultimately, if I had to pick a specific calling, I would say that I feel called to serve people and love on people. I realize that is extremely broad, but I think God has also slowly started to narrow that down in the last few years. Throughout college, I have come to realize that I have a very organized, and detail-oriented personality. I really enjoy event planning and coordinating and would love to use those strengths to glorify the Lord, while also loving on people.

For me, my dream job would be event or volunteer coordinating for a church or nonprofit organization. I see the business side of church as something that is not often talked about or thought of enough. I'm super passionate about using the business and administrative skills I have to better love on people through programs, small groups, or whatever means works best for that particular ministry.

I have also discovered that I really have a heart for the homeless. I spent a lot of my high school years volunteering for a nonprofit homeless organization back home in Washington and I really enjoyed it and felt fulfilled doing the work of that ministry. I am still not sure if this is something that will connect with my career, but I do want to continue volunteering with the homeless community. I have a passion for loving on all people, the homeless included.

Ultimately, I want to work for an organization that I am super passionate about and really see the value in. I want to make a difference in the lives of people through my career. For me, this means serving others in a way that ultimately glorifies the Lord and brings people to know Him more. This not only applies to my career, but to my life as a whole. I think what we are called to applies to our families, our churches, our friendships, as well as our careers. Ultimately for me, I think love is at the center of all of those things and I want my love for Christ and my love for people to come through in everything that I do, including my career.
